Now, Bitton is one of the Top 10 family photographers in the world, according to topteny.com.
“I never imagined this,” she said. “Not ever. It’s very rewarding.”
Bitton, 43, "makes use of everything around her for capturing her amazing photographs instead of capturing them in a studio,” topteny.com wrote, in ranking her No. 3.
“What increases the beauty of Meg Bitton’s photographs are not just the places that are carefully chosen," the site added. "]T]here are also the dresses that make the mothers and their daughters look like real princesses.
"Following this style of photography makes the photographs just stunning and deserve to be kept forever.”
Bitton specializes in maternity, baby, child and family photographs.
It all began in high school, before digital.
Growing up, the New York City native wanted to do something in the artistic field -- writing or painting, maybe -- but she always came back to photography as her medium of expression.
“I taught myself everything I know,” she said.
“My daughter was my muse for many, many years,” Bitton said. "Other parents started to ask me to take photos of their kids, too, and that’s how I got rolling.”
It wasn't until last year that Bitton opened her own studio in Tenafly. She also teaches there.
“I always say there is no magic fairy dust,” she said. “Once you can envision how you want it in your head and know how the camera works, then you can translate it.
"If you can’t see it, you can’t create it.”
