The store features new produce and bakery sections, new flooring and lighting, self-checkout lines and handheld scan-while-you-shop devices.
The first 300 customers on Friday were to receive free reusable grocery bags. There were also free samples and product giveaways, while supplies lasted, until 3 p.m.
The 23,000-square-foot building on Railroad Avenue that Stop & Shop is housed in was built in 1958. Stop & Shop opened that location in 2001.
