CASE: Philly Woman With NJ Ties Found Strangled On PA Highway
Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the murder of Caryn Fortino. Fortino, 38, was found dead in a wooded area off of Interstate 81 in Delano Township on May 23, 2003. She had been strangled, according to troopers. Authorities said Fortino was from the Philadelphia area and was last in contact with loved ones that February. A 2003 report from the Allentown Morning Call said her last known address was in Egg Harbor, New Jersey, but that she had moved back to Philly before her death. A Florida man wanted in New Jersey, fleeing from Pennsylvania State Police in Jonestown has caused an "active police incident" on Interstate 81, Trooper Megan Frazer said on Thursday. Jimmy Lee Fancy, 35, of Daytona, FL was wanted on "warrants for firearm violations from New Jersey as well as other active warrants in Pennsylvania," Trooper Frazer stated in a release. Don't be fooled by this morning's sunny skies: Severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours and gusty winds are likely coming Thursday evening across the Northeast, forecasters say. Gusts up to 60 mph with the possibility of tornadoes were being predicted across much of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland beginning in the late afternoon or early evening hours, AccuWeather reports.
