Hackensack Police Find Fleeing Crashed Carjacker At The Hospital
A 22-year-old delivery driver from Hackensack carjacked two teens, crashed their car while fleeing, then was arrested after checking himself into the hospital, authorities said.
The victims waved down police after their car was boxed in by five other vehicles on Kennedy Street around 1 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, said Capt. Michael Antista, the officer in charge of the department.
Nelson Paida-Uzhca assaulted them, then took their 2011 Honda Civic, the captain said.
Paida-Uzhca struck a pole on East Wesley Avenue in South Hackensack moments later, then took off on foot, Antista said.

A robber who'd apparently followed a woman to a Route 46 motel kicked in the door and pistol-whipped her before fleeing, authorities said.
South Hackensack police found the Nyack, NY, victim bleeding from the face when they responded to a 911 call from the Stagecoach Motel around 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, Detective Sgt. James Donatello said.
The victim, who spoke no English, was interviewed with the assistance of Moonachie Police Officer Frank Tamargo, the sergeant said.

Busted: Illegal Route 46 U-Turn Leads To Crystal Meth, Loaded Gun, Arrests Of Ex-Con Couple
A pair of convicted felons both wanted on warrants had crystal meth in the car and a loaded gun under the seat when a South Hackensack police officer stopped them for an illegal U-turn on Route 46, authorities said.
The warrants turned up after Officer Steven Oliver stopped a Chevy Equinox with an expired temporary license plate driven by Dale Edwards, 45, who had an active warrant out of Montana, Detective Sgt. James Donatello said.

South Hackensack PD: Bergenfield Couple Stole Semi-Automatic Handgun
SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. -- A Bergenfield couple stole a South Hackensack man's gun, said police who arrested them after finding it in their home.
Erick Marrero Jr., 26, and Christina Dougherty, 31, were charged with various counts after South Hackensack Police Detective James Donatello identified them as suspects, Capt. Robert Kaiser said Wednesday.
A search of the couple's home turned up the stolen 9mm semi-automatic handgun in a basement bedroom, Kaiser said.
Dougherty was charged with burglary, theft and weapons offenses.
