Firefighters Find Furry Friends At Ramsey House Blaze
Firefighters scooped up a trio of dogs during a townhouse blaze in Ramsey. The two-alarm fire ignited in the kitchen of a Windsor Lane home in the Bears Cove development just off Route 17 around 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5. It was quickly knocked down and placed under control. No injuries were reported. Firefighters were rotated through rehab in the intense 90-degree heat. Utility Pole Crash Closes Northbound Route 17 Overnight
A driver walked away unscathed after an SUV split a utility pole outside a Route 17 service station in Ramsey overnight, responders said. The northbound highway was initially shutdown at East Allendale Avenue following the 1:30 a.m. crash at the QuickChek station. Firefighters tended to the vehicle, while police and members of Ramsey Rescue and Ramsey EMS tended to the victim. : Victim Airlifted In Route 287 Multi-Vehicle Crash
Route 287 was closed in both directions in Mahwah mid-Thursday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash that required a medical chopper. A second crash a short time later compounded the situation for responders and motorists. The first crash, around 1:40 p.m. at mile marker 63.7 on the northbound side, involved fie vehicles and required an extrication by Mahwah Fire Rescue Co. 1, responders said. EMS Worker Who Helped Revive Heart Attack Victim Among Honored Ramsey Responders
A Ramsey EMS worker who helped revive a 22-year-old man who went into cardiac at a local gym was among a group of heroes honored by the local Knights of Columbus. Marc Greenwood was at Retro Fitness off Route 17 when the victim collapsed on April 28, Police Chief Bryan Gurney said at the time. Marc Greenwood, a Ramsey Ambulance Corps member, senior planner for the borough Office of Emergency Management and Mahwah police dispatcher who used to work at the same gym, began CPR. Traffic Jam, Power Outage: SUV Slams Into Route 17 Utility Pole In Ramsey
A driver was hospitalized with a head injury after his SUV slammed into a utility pole early Friday evening on Route 17 in Ramsey. Downed power lines fell in front of and behind a Federal Express tractor-trailer, further thickening area traffic near Spring Street and knocking out power to some area customers. Ramsey police, EMS and Rescue Squad squad members responded, along with an Orange & Rockland Electric crew. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked SUV. Boyd A. Loving contributed to this report.
