Cresskill Crash Ignites House Fire
A chain-reaction ignited by a crash left a Cresskill home damaged by fire. The driver escaped serious injury after his box truck from Woodland Park struck a tree on Madison Avenue off the corner of 8th Street shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12. Branches then hit wires that energized the garage area of a nearby home. Cresskill firefighters got there quickly and had the blaze under control within 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Cresskill Firefighters Free Driver After Snow-Related Crash
A driver walked away from a snow-related crash in Cresskill on Thursday after firefighters freed her. Police, firefighters and EMS found the 22-year-old victim trapped inside the Hyundai SUV after it rolled onto its side at the corner of Madison and Jefferson avenues around 3 p.m. “Emergency personnel maintain verbal communications with the victim while the fire department worked on cutting through the windshield,” police reported. “The victim was removed without any injuries and checked out by EMS.” Police also added a word of caution: “Just because the roadway doesn’t look completely cov…

NYC College Tennis Player, 20, Dies In Fiery Cresskill Monument Crash
UPDATE: A 20-year-old college tennis player from Queens was killed when his speeding vehicle slammed into the Camp Merritt Memorial Monument in Cresskill and burst into flames before dawn Saturday, authorities told Daily Voice. Video from a gas station at the circle shows the crash and explosion, which tore off the front of the 2016 Infiniti Q50, split the rest in two and hurled Christian Gloria about 75 feet just before 4:30 a.m. Gloria played tennis in high school and was listed on the ASA College team in Manhattan.
