An alarm system malfunction forced the lockdown Tuesday of Westwood Regional High School and brought a legion of law enforcement and tactical officers to Washington Township. The entire building was searched following the 11:07 a.m. lockdown, Washington Township Police Chief John Calamari said. The search confirmed there wasn't a threat of any kind and the lockdown was stepped down to a shelter in place. The system malfunctioned a second time after being reset, the chief said. The seller and his companion then “threatened and assaulted the victim, took the sneakers and fled in their vehicle,” Calamari said. Any…

Accomplished Washington Township Police Veteran Rises To Chief
A highly respected Washington Township police veteran and accomplished instructor is now its chief. Chief Richard Skinner, who’d recently served as the department’s officer in charge, officially took the position on Monday. “This was a very competitive process [that] highlighted the talent, knowledge and commitment of our entire command staff,” Mayor Peter Calamari said. It was so competitive, in fact, that township officials also boosted one of the other two candidates: Capt. John Calamari, whose promotion also became official this week. The third candidate, Lt. A. J. Pecora, also impre…
