Two determined Glen Rock detectives identified, located and charged a Queens man with the vicious robbery of a 66-year-old Bergenfield man last spring in the parking lot of the warehouse where he works. The victim was carrying what police described as a “substantial” amount of cash when two robbers accosted him in broad daylight at the De Boer Drive warehouse last June 16. Route 208 Closed By Downed Power Lines, Cluster Of Brush Fires Doused
Power lines that fell across Route 208 closed the highway in both directions and ignited several small noontime brush fires. Massive jams stretched beyond eyesight in each direction as police detoured traffic at De Boer Drive in Glen Rock, where the wires fell around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, and Rea Avenue in Hawthorne. UPDATE: A retired Teaneck police officer was critically injured when he was thrown from his motorcycle after it struck a defective piece of roadway on a Route 208 overpass, authorities said. The 59-year-old rider from Rochelle Park was headed north on the highway De Boer Drive when his motorcycle hit a defective expansion joint shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. 40 Postal Boxes In Bergen Tampered With, Federal Authorities Say
U.S. Postal Service inspectors were investigating a wave thefts from mailboxes in Bergen County, authorities said. Anyone who believes their mailings have been compromised should contact either local police or the U.S. Postal Inspection Service: (877) 876-2455.
