New Jersey Zip Codes Listed Among Top 100 Priciest In Country
Three locations in New Jersey were included in a new ranking of the most expensive zip codes in the United States based on residential sales. Property Shark created the report of the 100 most expensive zip codes in 2021 based on residential transactions closed between Jan. 1 and Oct. 22. The three New Jersey zip codes included in the list are located in Bergen County, Monmouth County, and Cape May County. Smoky Roof Fire Doused At Bergen County Nursing Home
Firefighters doused a smoky blaze at a Bergen County nursing home Friday afternoon. The building was evacuated and there didn't initially appear to be any serious injuries after the fire broke out between the roof and second floor at the Russ Berrie Home for Jewish Living around 1:30 p.m., responders said. Workers have been replacing sections of the roof for the past week and a half, they said. Driver, 21, Killed In Predawn Closter Crash
A Closter driver died in a predawn crash despite furious efforts to save him, authorities said. The victim, 21, failed to negotiate a turn when his 2018 Mercedes GLE hit a tree and telephone pole before coming to rest on its side on Piermont Road near Alpine Drive at 4:46 a.m. Wednesday, Closter Police Chief John McTigue said. Closter police, assisted by their colleagues from Norwood and Haworth, lifted the car and freed the driver, who was pinned beneath the vehicle, the chief said. Lost 18-Year-Old Hikers Rescued From Woods Along Palisades Trail
Responders rescued two 18-year-old hikers who got lost in the woods along the Palisades after dark. Palisades Interstate Parkway police were joined by various rescuers who helped find the pair near the State Line Lookout in Alpine shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday. These included Alpine firefighters and members of the Closter Ambulance & Rescue Corps with a rescue truck and ATV. The lost hikers were taken to a safe area where they were checked out by EMTs before being released. A Rockland man and woman were hospitalized after their sedan crashed off the southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine on Saturday, authorities said. Abandoned twin German Shepherds were found on successive nights in the same area of the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine, and police suspect both may be related to a third who turned up in nearby Closter. “Neither had a collar or identification tags and they weren’t micro-chipped,” PIP Police Sgt.
