The Festival will screen a selection of short films submitted by high-school students from the tri-state area. The films -- in the category of comedy, nonfiction, PSA, music video, animation, experimental and the themed category "Tomorrow is Another Day" -- will reflect the stories, styles and experiences of teenagers today.
The First in Festival winner will receive a $250 scholarship, the winning video in each category will receive a $100 scholarship grant, among other prizes.
Last year's festival showcased 25 short films selected from a pool of over 300 entries from high school filmmakers in the tri-state area.
This year's finalists will be selected by a jury of professionals in the field of media and production. They include
- Glenn Allen, co-owner of Brainstorm Digital;
- Joyce Boll, COO and head of production at Gravity;
- Joelle Ciampaglia, associate director at MLB, NHL and SNY;
- Guy Jackson, New York-based director of photography;
- Trevor Kress, product integration specialist at Corbis Entertainment;
- Pete Radovich, creative director of CBS Sports;
- Andrew Stern, editor, producer and music composer;
- Theresa Won, director of production and acquisitions at Myriad Pictures; and
- Adam Yenser, writer for "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
"We are excited about this year's film festival submissions," said Film Festival Coordinator Shane Kress. "It's wonderful that so many aspiring teen filmmakers share a passion for storytelling through video production and this festival provides a fun environment to showcase their films."
The red-carpet ceremony will start at 6 p.m., at Cresskill Middle and High School, and screenings and awards will begin at 7.
