Wind gusts spread Weehawken marina boat fire

Three boats caught fire in the marina near the Lincoln Tunnel this morning, sending up huge clouds of smoke that could be seen up and down the Hudson River.

The fire reportedly broke out around 7:45 in the marina at Lincoln Harbor in Weehawken, which includes condos, a cluster of restaurants (the Chart House, Ruths Chris, among others) and a mini shopping area.

The blaze quickly went to three alarms, drawing response from, among others, North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue and an FDNY marine unit.

Wind gusts pushed the fire across the trio of pleasure craft, said North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Chief Frank Montagne.

Fire investigators were determining the cause, he said.
