The first arrest came around 6 o’clock last night when Tenafly police — assisted by Dumont, Cresskill and Bergenfield police, along with agents from the DEA — concluded a several-month investigation by taking 28-year-old Keith Santoli into custody at his County Road home, Detective Capt. Michael deMoncada told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
He was carrying more than an ounce of cocaine, deMoncada said.
The strike force then hit the Harcourt Avenue home of Jacob Santoli — and found him about to drive off with an extra-large duffel bag filled with six backpacks, each containing drugs ranging from pot to pills to cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia, the captain said.
“Without the investigative teamwork of several agencies and the actions of quick-thinking of detectives, these drugs may have already been sold across Bergen County,” deMoncada told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
“Although we do not believe these two drug dealers were specifically targeting school-aged children, it should be noted that they were both conducting these activities within relatively close proximity to two public schools,” he added. “We are grateful that our officers could get these drugs off of the street before they did any harm.
“It was a truly great job by all involved.”
The Santolis were being held on $40,000 each in the Bergen County Jail, charged with the sale and possession of the various drugs within a school zone.
“The Tenafly Police Department would like to thank the Dumont, Cresskill, and Bergenfield Police Departments, along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency for their assistance in making this investigation a success,” deMoncada said.
Anyone can report drug activity in his or her neighborhood to local police. The calls will be kept confidential, authorities said.
