Closter Homeowner Gets Family Out Safely In Overnight Fire

CLOSTER, N.J. -- A Closter homeowner got his wife and two children out safely after an overnight fire spread from an attached garage to his home.

The resident said "heard the smoke alarms going off and found that there was a fire in his garage" at 750 Closter Dock Road just before 4:30 a.m., Police Chief Dennis Kaine told Daily Voice.

He tried extinguishing the fire after getting his family out safely.

Borough firefighters, joined by colleagues from other Northern Valley towns, took it from there.
