Leonard C. Major, 47, wrote 43 rubber checks worth $30,451, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

“The accounts were fraudulent, closed or had balances that were below the required amount for the checks to be paid,” Molinelli said, noting that Major was positively identified on post office surveillance cameras.

Major, of Little Neck, Queens, is charged in Bergen County with theft. He’s currently being held in the Altona, N.Y. Correctional Facility.

Molinelli thanked the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
