CLOSTER, N.J. -- A lifelong resident of Closter, Peter J. Sorensen, died Aug. 21. He was 58.
After graduating from Trenton State with a B.S. in mechanical engineering, he acquired a degree in education and pursued a career in teaching. He most recently was employed with the Clifton Public Schools. He was a lifelong member of the Closter Fire Volunteer Department.
He was the son of Peter and Louise (nee Rutherford); brother of Patty Christ, Mary and husband Eddie Doidge and Kathy and husband Don Haup; longtime companion of Dianne May; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A service and visitation was conducted at Moritz Funeral Home in Closter with burial following at Westwood Cemetery.
