Ernest Stephen Herger, Sr., 74, Former Closter Resident

CLOSTER, N.J. --  Former Closter resident Ernest Stephen Herger, Sr.died on Tuesday, Dec. 15. He was 74.  

Born on November 4, 1941 in Yonkers, N.Y. to the late Ernest and Helen (Miswick) Herger, he had served in the US Marine Corps from 1959-1963. 

Herger was member of the Electricians Local Union #3 IBEW for 38 years before retiring in 2001. He was affiliated with the Westchester Mechanics and Keystone Club. 

He was a life member of the Closter Elks Lodge #2304, a Past Commodore of the Seaweed Yacht Club in Stony Point, N.Y. and a volunteer at the White Marsh Golf & Country Club in Rotonda West, Fla. 

Herger enjoyed coaching his children in various sport activities, family vacations, boating and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Janet Herger; daughter Susan Talmo (Stephen) of Dumont; sons, Ernest Herger (Patricia) of Closter, and Robert Herger (Robin) of Fairlawn; his brother William Herger (Diane) of Rotonda West; his sister Helen Pinto (Richard) of Morristown; and six grandchildren, Christina and Jennifer Talmo, Emily, Jordan, Samuel and Tyler Herger.
