CRESSKILL, N.J. -- Cresskill residents will now be responsible for maintenance on sewer line connections located on their property, according to NorthJersey.com.
Under the old ordinance the borough was responsible for replacing or repairing connections between the curb and the main sewer line. Officials said this essentially made the borough responsible for fixing work done by private contractors, NorthJersey.com reported.
The Bergen County Utility Authority approached the borough about the amendment, saying it was not in line with how neighboring municipalities handle their sewer ordinances, NorthJersey.com said.
