His book "Simple Is The New Smart," which hit bookstores Monday, explores "smart cuts" instead of shortcuts, "strategic responses," as opposed to reactions, and leveraging your emotions.

"The funny thing is this book was intended for leaders and executives but it is helpful for people in all walks of life," Fazio, 42, told Daily Voice. "It can be a guide for anybody trying to advance in their career or who has a drive to be successful."

The book is a collection of wisdom from the past 15 years of Fazio's life as a sports psychologist and professional advisor for Fortune 500 companies. But it is grounded in the belief that all insecurity can be transformed into security.

"Throughout my life I have been told I am not going to succeed and I have used that to help me succeed," said Fazio, who runs his own consulting firm, OnPoint Advising, out of his home in Maple Shade, New Jersey.

His clients include Comcast, Johnson & Johnson and Capital One Bank.

"Overcoming that adversity has made me want to help other people help themselves," the author said.

The Northern Valley High School Demarest graduate has a PhD in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. The 255-page book, his first, is on sale now at Barnes & Noble and on Amazon.
