Newark Airport Reimagined: Plans To Transform NJ Airport Into World-Class Gateway Revealed
It's Newark Airport like you've never seen it before. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has revealed plans to upgrade the airport with hopes of transforming it into a "world-class getaway" with modernized terminals. It's called the EWR Development Plan, and it calls for a complete upgrade of Terminal B to match the newly renovated Terminal A, an overhaul of the outdated roadway network, and a redesign of the delay-prone aircraft taxiway network. Newark Airport Worker Found With Handgun, TSA Says
A man who worked at Newark Liberty International Airport was arrested after he was stopped by Transportation Security Administration officers with a loaded handgun in his backpack on Saturday, April 1. The TSA did not identify the man. After spotting the gun in an X-ray machine in Terminal C, TSA officers alerted Port Authority Police who confiscated the weapon, according to the TSA. The man's employee badge was confiscated and he is no longer employed at the airport, according to the TSA. A Pennsylvania man was arrested at Newark Airport over the weekend with an unloaded .357-caliber revolver in his carry-on, the TSA said. The Bethlehem, PA traveler was nabbed after the weapon was spotted going through an X-ray scanner at a Terminal C security checkpoint on Sunday, Jan. 29, the Transportation Security Administration’s Lisa Farbstein said. UPDATE: A fire in in a PSE&G manhole below a section of Newark Airport forced the evacuation late Friday morning of the C-1 wing at Terminal C, authorities said. "The fire has been extinguished, though there are still smoky conditions," the Port Authority's Joseph Pentangelo said just before 12:30 p.m. " There are no injuries. Fire crews are on scene.
