A deejay told Jersey City police that a pair of masked men robbed him at gunpoint in his car of $100,000 worth of jewelry following a gig. The deejay told police he was jacked near the intersection of Summit and Newark avenues, up the street from Journal Square, shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday, June 9. A Jersey City man has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that left an 18-year-old bicyclist seriously injured, authorities announced. Marvin Lara, 39, was behind the wheel of a Toyota RAV4 when he struck the bicycle -- occupied by two people -- on Summit and Jewitt avenues on Jan. 8 around 8:30 p.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. 19: Jersey City MVC Agency Closed After Worker Tests Positive
A state Motor Vehicle Commissions agency in Jersey City closed on Monday after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The Summit Avenue agency only handles transactions, and will remain shut until Oct. 6, the agency said in a tweet. A 26-year-old man died when a car backing up struck him overnight in Jersey City, authorities said. ** UPDATE: A 29-year-old man on Aug. 27 was charged in this incident ** Shawn Charles, of Jersey City, was standing outside a Summit Avenue house when he was struck by a vehicle backing up and leaving the area just before 4 a.m. Saturday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Hudson County Man Who Struck 2 Pedestrians Was DUI, Prosecutor Says
A 37-year-old North Bergen man was under the influence of drugs when he struck two pedestrians with his car last year in Jersey City, authorities said. Lawrence Smith was arrested Monday morning in connection with the Nov. 23, 2019 incident, that injured a 50-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.
