County-Owned Rescue Truck Collides With SUV In Front Of Hackensack Fire Department A crash involving a county-owned rescue truck and a Toyota SUV closed a Hackensack street Wednesday morning, Aug. 7. The crash happened right outside of the city's fire station on State Street around 10:30 a.m. The truck involved in the crash, often used for water rescues, was returning from a call when the incident happened, Hackensack Police Capt. Nearly 950 Hackensack Residents Without Power After Thunderstorms A storm system that swept through the region Saturday afternoon, Aug. 3 left hundreds of North Jersey residents without power. As of 5:40 p.m., about 950 PSE&G customers in Hackensack did not have power, its website shows. In Closter, 145 Orange & Rockland customers were in the dark. In West Milford, more than 500 residents did not have power. Most of those customers were JCP&L. The storms, which brought temps down to the high-70s, had subsided as of press time.

The Hawthorne, N.J. teen said he and a friend were driving off-road near the Hillburn border when the vehicle entered the river around 11 p.m., Suffern police said. Police found the vehicle in heavy rapids and several feet of water, they said.
