Death At Route 17 Holiday Inn: Cause Not Official Yet
All signs point to the death of a 56-year-old guest at a Holiday Inn off Route 17 as the result of a medical emergency, possibly a heart attack. But it’s not official yet. Hasbrouck Heights police were still awaiting the results of an autopsy by the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office. Teterboro Airport Noise Has Gotten Worse, Says New Pascack Valley Group Fighting
For residents in the Pascack Valley region, the noise from private planes flying into Teterboro Airport has become a quality of life issue. Taxpayers for Airport Noise Solutions (TANS) is a new organization that has formed to give a voice to those grievances. The group has circulated a petition, which has almost 900 signatures, requesting the FAA change the flight plans for flights into Teterboro Airport Runway 19 by having them fly over Route 17, a less residential area. A driver was hospitalized with chest pains following a pre-dawn single-vehicle crash Friday on rain-soaked Route 17. The SUV narrowly missed taking out a bus shelter but ran over a sign and then slammed into a tree on the highway's southbound side just past Hollywood Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus shortly before 6:30 a.m. Oct. 20. A trio of teenagers bailed out of a stolen car on the Garden State Parkway during an overnight chase and were quickly captured by police from Mahwah and Paramus. A driver and passenger escaped serious injury when their pickup truck crashed through a Route 17 guardrail and landed on its side down an embankment, responders said.
