Another massive shark, Scot, was tracked in the Hudson Canyon on Nov. 6 and 7. 8-Foot Shark Still Lingering Off NJ Coast An eight-foot white shark who surfaced off the New Jersey coast earlier this month seems to be sticking around for more Jersey Shore fun. Jekyll, who made a splash off Sea Isle City on May 8, resurfaced on May 15 in the same vicinity around 8 p.m., according to popular shark tracking and research organization, OCEARCH. Jekyll has been tracked by OCEARCH since December 2022. Jekyll spent quite some time off the coast of North Carolina before heading north along the Atlantic shoreline.  It wasn't immediately known how far off the coast Jekyll was swimming. 1,000-Pound Shark Pinged Off NJ Coast A 1,000-pound shark was tracked off the New Jersey coast last month. Ironbound, who measure 12-feet 4-inches long, was tracked April 28 in South Jersey, but as of May 9 was swimming along the shores of North Carolina.   Ironbound is named after West Ironbound Island near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, where he was first tagged in 2019.  He is 53 white shark SPOT-tagged by OCEARCH in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean.
