Repeat Offender Caught Shoplifting Assaults Store Employee, Breaks Glass Door: Lyndhurst PD  A 22-year-old Secaucus man who was already known to Lyndhurst police was nabbed following what began as a shoplifting and turned into a robbery, authorities said. Daniel Soto punched and then spit on an employee of a Riverside Avenue store who confronted him on Sunday, Jan. 21, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Officers Find Repeat Restraining Order Violator Hiding Beneath Bed: Lyndhurst PD A Lodi man jailed several times the past few months for restraining order violations tried hiding from police while doing it again, authorities said. Joseph Minniti, 37, had gone to a Lyndhurst residence to confront a family member who had a court order barring him from the home near Riverside County Park, Police Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Van Stolen Year Ago Out Of Jersey City Recovered, NYC Driver Busted By Lyndhurst Police Officer A van that was reported stolen out of Jersey City a year ago this week was recovered by a Lyndhurst police officer during a 4th of July traffic stop, authorities said. A license plate reader alerted Officer Michael Carrino, who made the stop on Orient Way at Valley Brook Avenue on Tuesday, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Driver Kishon Moses, 24, of New York City told the officer he’d rented the van from someone and had no idea it had been stolen, the lieutenant said. Moses was arrested, charged with receiving stolen property and released.  The van was impounded.
