Storm Wreaks Havoc On North Jersey: HS Closed, Thousands Without Power
Lenape Valley High School in Stanhope will be closed Wednesday due to damage possibly sustained in a tornado Tuesday. Officials did not confirm that a tornado had touched down but the announcement that the school would be closed came shortly after a tornado warning was issued for the region. There were also reports of downed trees and wires in Roxbury and Stanhope. Students Trapped Under Live Power Lines In Long Hill School Bus Crash
Eight students and one adult were helped off of a school bus that veered off the road and into a utility pole, toppling power lines around 8:30 a.m. Monday. The Millington and Gillette students and the driver were helped off the bus after power was cut by JCP&L about 10 minutes after the crash, resulting in area outages. NBCNewYork's live chopper footage shows power lines strewn across the top of the bus. Long Hill Public Schools announced a two-hour delay following the crash. Four days after the latest Nor'easter, thousands of North Jersey residents remain without power. PSE&G on Sunday it is still working to restore power to 3,950 of its customers -- several hundred in Bergen and Passaic counties. 80,000 Without Power In NJ; Bergen Lawmakers Call For State Of Emergency
More than 80,000 North Jersey residents and businesses are still without power following last week's nor'easter. Most of the outages are in Morris, Sussex, Hunterdon and Warren counties, but some Bergen County assemblymen joined Assemblyman Anthony M. Bucco in asking Gov.
