It would have been the 19-year-old MSU sophomore's first day of work at Das' Creamery's new location, Das' Creamery MooTown Morris Marketplace, on East Hanover Avenue in Morristown. Charges have been filed against a 41-year-old man who police say was going 90 mph before a crash that killed an 18-year-old pre-med student in Morris County, officials announced. Gerald Veneziano, of Bellville, had numerous open alcohol containers in the vicinity of his Chevrolet Silverado following the accident that killed 18-year-old Jacob Davis in Flanders Friday, May 31, Morris County Acting Prosecutor Maggie Calderwood said. An 18-year-old Flanders resident has been identified as the victim killed in a two-car crash in Roxbury last month, authorities said. Jacob Davis was heading south on Howard Boulevard in a 2019 Mazda 3 in the collision with a northbound 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, around 10:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said. NJ's Theresa 'Tess' Callaghan Dies Year After Cancer Diagnosis, 29
Theresa Callaghan, a 29-year-old Mount Olive native, died on Monday, Feb. 26 after battling brain cancer, according to her obituary. Born in Cranford, Callaghan graduated from Mount Olive High School in 2012, her obituary reads. She graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in nutrition and dietetics and later achieved her master's in nutrition from St. Elizabeth University, according to her obituary. Callaghan was diagnosed with brain cancer in March 2023, according to a fundraiser set up to support her medical bills. As of Thursday, March 7, more than $106,000 had been raised.…

Officials have identified the victim of a fatal NJ Transit train strike as a 21-year-old man. Zain Bhatti, of Flanders, was struck by Morris & Essex Line train 6635 just after 3:30 p.m., just west of the Madison station (Morris County) on Tuesday, Nov. 7, NJ Transit officials said. The train had departed Penn Station New York at 2:32 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Dover at 4:05 p.m. There were no injuries to the 60 customers or the crew on board. Three New Jersey Bed Bath & Beyond stores will shutter by the end of the year, the company announced this week. The company announced earlier this year it planned on closing 150 stores, and on Thursday, Sept. 15, released a list of 56 that will close by the end of 2022. Those stores are: Flanders, 30 International Dr. Manalapan, 13 Route 9 S. Paramus, 34 E Ridgewood Ave. Bed Bath & Beyond has 28 stores in New Jersey, and headquarters in Union. Firefighters Injured Battling LongHorn Steakhouse Blaze In Morris County
A late-night three-alarm blaze ravaged a Morris County LongHorn Steakhouse and injured three firefighters, authorities said. The fire broke out at the Flanders location on International Drive South Tuesday around 12 a.m., according to Byram Township fire officials. The blaze completely ravaged the restaurant, which had to be demolished due to damages, the Mt. Olive Fire Marshal said. Three firefighters sustained minor injuries battling the all-night blaze, which remains under investigation, authorities said. Fire crews in Flanders and Budd Lake also assisted at the scene.
