Latina Police Captain Makes History In Hudson County The North Bergen Police Department's first female police captain also happens to be Hudson County's first Latina police captain. Cynthia Montero is in her 13th year with the department. She became the first Latina supervisor in the department's history when she was promoted to sergeant in 2014. Then, she became the highest-ranking female with the NBPD when she was promoted to lieutenant in 2016. Montero and several other veteran officers were promoted on June 12.
