Driver Hospitalized As Honda Rear-Ends Toyota, Flips On Rt. 287: State Police A driver was taken to a nearby hospital after a Honda rear-ended a Toyota and flipped on Route 287 on Wednesday, Sept. 21, state police confirmed. A blue Honda rear-ended a white Toyota Camry and overturned in the southbound lanes near milepost 52 in Pequannock Township just after 9:30 p.m., NJSP Trooper Brandi Slota told DailyVoice.com. The Honda driver was taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons after complaining of pain, Slota said. The investigation is ongoing. No further information was released.

Bear Charges, Attacks Woman In Sussex County, State Police Say A bear charged at and attacked a woman in Sussex County, sending her to a local hospital, state police said. The 34-year-old Lafayette woman was walking on Gorney Road in Lafayette when she saw the bear just after 4:35 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, NJSP Trooper Brandi Slota told DailyVoice.com. The bear then charged and attacked her, causing injuries to her right arm and the right side of her body, Slota said. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. New Jersey Fish and Game was notified of the incident, authorities said.

Yvena Louis, 36, of Bayonne, was heading east on the Hudson Bay extension in Jersey City when her Nissan Quest went off the roadway near milepost 5.5, New Jersey State Police spokeswoman Brandi Slota said The car then struck a tree and went up in flames around 12:50 p.m.  Louis was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

Authorities ID Man Dead In NJ Turnpike Crash A 32-year-old man died in a crash on the NJ Turnpike early Wednesday in Union County. An International tractor trailer and a Hino box truck were heading north in the truck late when the truck struck the back of the trailer at milepost 101.9 around 6:55 a.m., New Jersey State Police spokeswoman Brandi Slota said. The driver of the Hino box truck suffered minor issues, and the passenger, Geraldo J. Velez-Portes, 32, of Perth Amboy, died. The driver of the tractor trailer sustained minor injuries.
