You have my word

I’ll use the best resources, experience, contacts and access to get the stories you want and the info you need.

I’m like you: I want to know what’s afoot that could end up hurting my quality of life, and of those I love, before the proposal is considered — not after they’ve stuck the golden shovels into the ground.

I want to know what decisions could end up forcing me to move my kid to another school — or out of the district entirely — as well as what changes are in store for my neighborhood, my business.

Like you, I want to know what to look out for — whether it’s a pursesnatcher preying on elderly women in town or con artists scamming people along the Palisades out of what’s left of their 401Ks.

More than anything, we both want the source of that information to be reliable. Battle-tested. Experienced. Fair.

And honest.

That’s why I’m proud that some of the most important pieces published on CLIFFVIEW PILOT already have come from YOU and your neighbors.

In the end, CLIFFVIEW PILOT is the type of public service you don’t have to pay for. It’s about your neck o’ the woods — what’s important to you, what interests you, what matters.

I’m here for you. Simply email, call or text. Tell me what needs to be exposed, what needs to be dug into, what question wasn’t asked that should have been. Be a part of the team, if you want. We’ll keep your name out, or put it up in big, bold letters. Your choice.

I grew up in North Bergen, went to NBHS, then St. Peter’s College. I’ve lived in Cliffside Park for much of the past 15 years, with a brief stop on the West New York waterfront, walking distance from the ferry.

I worked two stints at the Bergen Record, first from 1980-1983 and then from 1993-2008. I was the paper’s Law & Order Editor nearly 10 years and ran its online news desk for nearly two. THIS IS MY HOME.

I’ve won national awards for my work as a newsman, including the investigation of a public housing director who went to federal prison after I helped show that he was steering contracts to a friend who bought him a boat. I exposed failings in the state juvenile justice system, prompting then-Gov. Florio to empanel a task force assigned to seeking solutions.

I was also an integral part of an award-winning team that showed how succeptible high-rises, restaurants and other “multi-use” buildings were to tragedies in the wake of the Seton Hall fire. The result: reforms in the system that have made thousands of structures throughout New Jersey safer.

Helping people is in my job description.

I know how to get at whatever it is that someone may be trying to keep quiet. I’m out there every day, using the skills I first learned as a rookie police reporter. Prosecutors, cops, firefighters, judges and others trust me. When they’re in your corner, you know you’re doing something right.

I get the story — and I never make you wait around for it.

CLIFFVIEWPILOT.COM is no longer the future of media. It’s what’s happening now.
