Video: Ridgefield Responders Rescue Worker Caught On Rootop Ledge

RIDGEFIELD, N.J. -- Ridgefield police and firefighters rescued a worker who got stuck Thursday afternoon on a ledge nearly 30 feet above the street.

The laborer's employer apparently sent the worker up to the roof to clean a ledge of the building in the 600 block of Bergen Boulevard, a source with knowledge of the incident told Daily Voice.

The trouble was: He had to climb over a wall to reach the ledge, which was several feet below the roofline -- and then couldn't climb back up.

"He's on this tiny ledge, maybe a foot wide, with no harness, no safety equipment, nothing," a witness told Daily Voice. "He's nearly three stories in the air, holding onto the wall.

"He couldn't pull himself up."

Police went up on the roof and tossed the worker a rope to secure him, witnesses said.

Borough firefighters then raised a bucket ladder and scooped him up.
