Firefighters and police responded to the Sphynx Bus Company at 1099 Hendricks Causeway -- across from the PSE&G plant -- just after 1:30 a.m. to find two buses fully engulfed, Deputy Police Chief Robert Meurer told Daily Voice.

Flames eventually spread to several other buses before they were doused, he said.

Ridgefield firefighters were assisted by their colleagues from Fairview, Fort Lee, Cliffside Park and Palisades Park, Meurer said.

The Bergen County Arson Investigations Unit joined Ridgefield detectives and deemed the fire the result of a faulty electric cord, the deputy chief said.

No one was injured, he said.
