Mario C. Miller, 33, and Jesus Rivera, 54, were arrested in a parking lot outside Miller’s Portside Drive home along the Hudson River — a short distance from the Comfort Inn — on April 10, 2011, state Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said this afternoon.
As detectives watched, Rivera “retrieved a box containing 10 kilos of cocaine from his car and delivered it to Miller,” Chiesa said.
The investigators then executed search warrants for the box and the cars of both men, he said.
Rivera’s car, which was parked at his home, had 40 more kilos of cocaine in it, while Miller’s had another kilo, the attorney general said.
Rivera was charged with cocaine distribution, while both are charged with possession with the intent to distribute the drug and conspiracy.
Miller has been free on $200,000 bail, and Rivera on $100,000 bail, since the arrests.
Deputy Attorney General Christopher S. Romanyshyn, chief of the Division of Criminal Justice Gangs & Organized Crime Bureau, presented the case to the state grand jury. Detective Kevin Weinkauff was the lead detective for the Division of Criminal Justice.
