Besides a sink hole, a crack goes straight across the road, while another runs laterally to it, extending a couple hundred feet at the confluence of Gorge Road, Walker Street and Adolphus Avenue.
A large stretch of road was also rippled.
Traffic has been diverted around the area since the collapse around 4 p.m.
