The woman, who is from Yorba Linda, CA, and the 59-year-old driver from the Brox sustained minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals, he said.

The Ryder truck’s driver, a 57-year-old Edgewater man, was in the cab when the crash occurred but wasn’t injured, deMoncada said.

“The truck was drivable to just off East Clinton Avenue,” the captain said.

There, he said, the truck’s cargo of bottled soda was off-loaded to another truck.

However, he said, “the chaffeur bus is totaled…. Anyone passing by must have thought things were much worse for those on board.”

The impact of the crash on the bus’s right side nearly split the cab from the cabin.

Northbound traffic on Route 9w (Sylvan Avenue) was diverted westbound down East Clinton Avenue for about 2½ hours. as police continued their investigation.

NJDOT was assisting with the detour, deMoncada said. The roadway was re-opened just before 5:30.

Responding agencies also included Englewood Cliffs and Palisades Interstate Parkway Police, the captain said.

“At this time, there are no charges for either driver,” he said just after 6 p.m.
