Detectives from Molinelli’s Special Investigations Unit arrested Ramona Mercado Vasquez, a 26-year-old Dominican citizen, and Adonis Sepulveda, 30, a Dominican U.S. citizen, on Wednesday, as CLIFFVIEW PILOT was the first to report.
Vasquez and Sepulveda live at the St. Moritz on Daibes Court off Gorge Road, the site of the robbery, the prosecutor said today, in his first official announcement about the incident.
Both been held on $1 million each since then, charged with two counts each of robbery, kidnapping and aggravated assault, along with a pair of weapons counts and other offenses that include burglary and theft, according to jail records.
All of the items stolen in the home invasion, which began around 1 a.m. Tuesday, have been recovered.
Meanwhile, authorities were still searching for the two other robbers, Molinelli said this afternoon.
Area residents “should not be alarmed[,] as we do not think it to be a random incident,” the prosecutor said.
A St. Moritz employee was injured during the incident, authorities added.
Molinelli thanked Edgewater police and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation for assisting in the investigation.
