The chair's coils twisted the 1-year-old Mia's thickly textured coat and skin into the mechanism, making it impossible for her to get free, Capt. David Brierty of Ridgefield Engine/Rescue Company No. 2 told Daily Voice.
"We had to take apart the chair just so we could bring her out to see how badly she was in there," Brierty said.
"We brought her out with the motor still attached," the captain said. "Then we held her tight and backed up the mechanism to unroll her out of there.
"She was very scared, crying -- and nippy," Brierty said. "But once we got her out, she was all over us.
"It was really sweet."
The Abbott Avenue pooch had no visible injuries, the captain said.
Also responding were Chief Michael Kees, Fire Official James Brierty, Chief John Hoffman, Second Lt. Michael Fugnitti, First Lt. Perry Bonaguaro and Firefighter Joseph Greco.
