Two men got out of their 2013 Chevy Impala at 14th and Erie streets yesterday afternoon and pulled out the driver of a 2012 Mercedes Benz Sprinter van, who’d armed himself with a box cutter, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said this morning.

Port Authority Police Officers John Defilippo and Officer David Narvaez responded.

The van driver, Norbert Lozaro, 28, of Elizabeth (above, left), had an active warrant out of his city, Pentangelo said. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center to be treated for facial injuries and was charged with bail jumping and weapons possession, in addition to simple assault and disorderly conduct.

The Chevy passenger, 28-year-old Daniel Vaughn of Plainfield (top right), was also charged with bail jumping for five outstanding warrants from Scotch Plains, as well as with simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Assault and disorderly charges were also brought against the Chevy driver, Byron Simpson, 43, of Plainfield (bottom right).
