Members of the Fairview Volunteer Ambulance Corps were headed north on Broad Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Monday, transporting a patient from a mutual aid call to Guttenberg, when the red-and-white tractor-trailer in front of them drifted into the southbound lane as it approached West Prospect Avenue, Police Chief Martin Kahn told Daily Voice.
The tractor-trailer then struck the Ford Ranger, sending it head-on into the ambulance, he said.
Surveillance video shows the tractor-trailer fleeing, Kahn said.
The patient in the ambulance was taken to Holy Name Medical Center, as were the FVA crew members. All of the injuries were minor, the chief said.
Anyone with information that can help find the tractor-trailer and/or its driver is asked to call Fairview police: (201) 943-2100.
