No injuries were reported in the 5:50 a.m. fire at 556 Anderson Avenue, which apparently began in the back of the single-story Prime Foods store.
Firefighters kept the three-alarm blaze from spreading to the Parent hardware shop next door and had it out by 9 a.m.
Apartments above the hardware store may have sustained some smoke damage, fire officials said. Power to several customers south of the site was knocked out for several hours.
Members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Arson Investigations Unit were at the scene. Leonia and Ridgefield firefighters were among those who assisted their Cliffside Park colleagues.
