Leonard Eng, who now lives in Kentucky, is scheduled to be sentenced to five years in state prison on June 28 in exchange for his plea.
Officers from Paramus and Bogota went to Eng’s former home last July in response to reports of him saying there’d be “two dead cops” if police showed up there, authorties said at the time.
However, he was later accused of threatening a friend of 22 years, who Eng said had “better have eyes in the back of his head.”
They couldn’t get him to open the door, they said, so they looked into a basement window, where they said they saw several assault rifles.
Once inside, they reported finding five long-barrel firearms, three handguns, two bags of high-capacity ammunition magazines and more than 3,500 rounds of ammunition, as well as scopes, manuals, holsters, slings and a tactical vest.
They awoke Eng, who they said struggled with officers before being subdued.
Under his pillow they found a loaded .9mm handgun, they said.
It turned out that Eng had permits for just about all of the weapons and ammunition, except for the Sig Sauer 9mm — to which he pleaded guilty today to illegally having, prosecutors said.
