CLIFFVIEW PILOT EXCLUSIVE: A Cliffside Park patrolman on the force for less than two years was suspended without pay on a variety of charges involving his personal car, including having phony license plates, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has learned.

Officer Jonathan Lemkin’s black Ford Crown Victoria had altered license plates, no inspection sticker and emergency lights he had installed without the necessary permit, Chief Donald Keane told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

“Several characters on the plates were changed, so that if a check was run on the plates, it would not come back to the registered owner,” he said.

Although the disorderly persons summonses were forward to Cliffside Park Municipal Court, they likely be sent out to the county assignment judge for a change of venue.
