Investigators were still sorting out what led to the argument that sparked the overnight assault by 64-year-old fellow Lodi resident Francisco Suarez, Lt. Robert Salerno said this morning.

The 52-year-old victim came to headquarters around 4 a.m. and told what happened nearly three hours earlier, Salerno said.

He was taken to the hospital to be treated for cuts on the back of his head.

Officers found signs of a struggle and the knife believed used in the attack in the mobile home, Salerno said.

Suarez was being held on $20,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with aggravated assault with a weapon and illegal weapons possession.
