Leonia Man, 18, Charged With Edgewater Sex Assault

EDGEWATER, N.J. -- An 18-year-old technical school student from Leonia was being held on $100,000 bail after Edgewater police arrested him on sexual assault charges.

A borough officer learned of the incident after he found Justin Nikoloski in a fight with another man on Edgewater Place before dawn Friday, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said Sunday evening.

After arresting Nikoloski, police went to a nearby residence, where a woman he knew "informed the officers that she had been sexually assaulted by [him]," Grewal said.

Borough police notified his Special Victims Unit, the prosecutor said, and a joint investigation led to charges of sexual assault by force or coercion, witness tampering and disorderly conduct.

Nikoloski is due for a first appearance in Municipal Court on Thursday.
