Police were dispatched to the home of the 63-year-old woman after her husband called the Bergen County Psychiatric Hotline around 2:30 p.m., according to a press release.
Police were dispatched to the home while several attempts to contact the wife by phone were made and broken, officials said.
The Bergen County SWAT Team was summoned, according to the press release.
The woman agreed to surrender herself and exited unharmed, according to Edgewater police.
She was transported by Edgewater Emergency Services to the hospital for further investigation, police said.
Detectives from the Edgewater Police Department met with her husband, who had confirmed over the phone while police were being dispatched that there were shotguns and handguns in the home, police said.
The husband gave police detectives consent to search his home, according to police. An investigation is under way.
