A monitoring system alerted police to an intruder at Beyer Bros. on Broad Avenue around 5 a.m., Police Chief Martin Kahn told Daily Voice.

Officer Nicholas Leto rushed to the dealership and caught Rodolfo Perez, 37, of West New York, as he tried to flee, the chief said.

It turned out Perez had a woman waiting for him in a stolen car -- but she "had no knowledge of the incident that had just occurred," he said.

A judge ordered Perez held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and receiving stolen property.
