Police from Fairview and Cliffside Park converged on the parking lot of the A&P supermarket on Anderson Avenue at Edgewater Road around 2:15 a.m. after getting a call, Detective Capt. Martin Kahn said.
Moments earlier, Fairview Police Officer Joselito Rivas met with the caller, a jitney driver who told them a fellow driver was robbed by two men who told him they had a gun.
Although no weapon was found, both men were taken into custody and charged with crimes that include robbery, terroristic threats, simple assault and hindering apprehension.
Ambrosio Curruchich-Chali, 26, and Juan Curruchich-Ajanel, 29, are being held at the Bergen County Jail on $50,000 bail each, pending 4 p.m. arraignments Wednesday.
But they’re not going anywhere: Fairview police also contacted the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which obtained retainers for the pair.
