Konstadinos Peppas, a 38-year-old credit card processor, remained held on $25,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail pending a Dec. 17 arraignment in Central Municipal Court in Hackensack following his arrest Thursday.
Peppas, who's been living at the Promenade off River Road, told a judge in August that he "received permission from his landlord to postpone eviction proceedings" via voicemail and email, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said Friday.
He then submitted "the e-mail chain of communications [that] he purported to have received from the landlord and [that] were signed, electronically, with the landlord’s name," the prosecutor said.
An investigation by his White Collar Crimes Unit found that they'd been forged, Molinelli said.
