Ricardo Medrano-Sanchez, 25, told responding officers that he was a passenger in a soutbound 2005 Toyota Corolla that swerved across the oncoming lane and slammed into an unoccupied West Nyack taxi cab — sending it spinning 180 degrees counter-clockwise into the roadway — around 2:15 a.m., Capt. Alex Hanna told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

However, the officers found two genuine passengers nearby, both 22 years old, and quickly discovered the truth, the captain said.

One of them, an East Orange man, was taken to Palisades General Hospital with facial injuries from flying glass.

He told the officers he’d urged Medrano-Sanchez to slow down “because he was driving way too fast,” Hanna said.

The other passenger, from Hoboken, was OK, he said.

Medrano-Sanchez, meanwhile, refused medical attention, the captain said.

Police charged him with DWI — after he registered a .14 BAC — along with reckless driving, assault by auto, hindering and illegal possession of six pills without prescriptions.

They then released him to a responsible adult pending further court action.
