Detectives Find Truck With 30 Stashed Pounds Of Pot On Ridgefield Street

RIDGEFIELD, N.J. – A tip led members of the Bergen County prosecutor’s Narcotics Task Force to a pickup truck parked on a Ridgefield street that had 30 pounds of pot stashed inside a secret compartment, authorities said.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and towed the vehicle away.

Registered in Oklahoma, the white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck didn’t have license plates, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.

Narcotics detectives from Grewal’s office along with Homeland Security investigators spotted the truck’s “trap” and summoned a K9 unit from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office to sniff around the exterior.

The dog made a positive indication for drugs, the prosecutor said. So investigators obtained a search warrant and towed the vehicle away.

A subsequent search turned up the pot, Grewal said.

Participating are the NTF, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, the sheriff’s office, Ridgefield police and the Hackensack Fire Department, the prosecutor said.

An investigation was continuing, he said.
