Authorities today said a man whose SUV jumped a curb and plowed into a crowd of Bergenline Avenue sidewalk shoppers Sunday had a blood-alcohol content of .22 — nearly three times the legal limit. Ediberto Viana, 43, of North Bergen is being held on $150,000 cash bail, charged with seven counts of assault by auto, as well as DWI.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman confirmed that a
44-year-old man who was pinned beneath the vehicle remains in critical condition with compound leg fractures at Jersey City Medical Center.

Depending on what turn his condition takes, criminal charges could be brought against Viana (left), whose SUV also hit several other people before smashing into a traffic light pole.

Six of them were taken for treatment to area hospitals. They include two teenaged sisters and two men in their 60s, police said.

Witnesses said a bystander held onto Viana until police arrived.
